Privacy — Connector Identifier
This covers the connector identifier only. The rest of saperformance.com.au is covered by the store's own privacy policy.
What we collect, and why
- Your email address or mobile number, if you enter one at the first step. It is used once, in memory, to look you up in our customer list so we can give you a higher usage allowance. The address itself is never written to disk. What we keep is a one-way scrambled version of it, which lets us recognise you next time without holding your details.
- Photographs you upload of the connector, so it can be identified.
- What you type describing the connector, and your answers to any follow-up questions.
- A scrambled version of your IP address, used only to count how many identifications have come from one place, so nobody can run up our costs.
Where your photo goes
Identifying a connector is done by an AI model. Your photo and your description are sent to Anthropic, an AI provider in the United States, which processes them on our instructions and returns a result. We do not send them your email address, your phone number or your name.
Anthropic deletes what we send within 30 days by default. Content its automated safety systems flag is kept for up to 2 years, and scores derived from that for up to 7 years.
Helping us identify connectors for other people
Answering your question and keeping your photo afterwards are two different things, so we ask about the second one separately — it is the unticked box next to the description field, and it is genuinely optional. Saying no does not change your result in any way.
If you say yes, your photo and your wording are kept and used to identify the same connector faster for the next person. If you say no, they are used to answer you and then expire on the schedule below.
You can change your mind — see “Getting your photos deleted”.
How long we keep things
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| The full-resolution photo you uploaded | 7 days, always — this copy is never kept as reference data |
| The smaller copy we work from | 7 days, unless you agreed to it being kept to help identify this connector for others |
| Photos you agreed we could keep | Until we retire the catalogue record for that connector |
| What you typed | Kept with your session record; only added to our matching vocabulary if you agreed to it |
| The scrambled version of your email or mobile | Kept with your session record so we can recognise you next time |
| The link to your session | 30 minutes from when you start |
| What we sent to Anthropic | 30 days, on their side (longer if flagged — see above) |
Getting your photos deleted
You can ask us to delete the photos and descriptions from your identifications, and to stop using them to improve matching, at any time — including after you agreed to us keeping them.
If this browser remembers you, there is a “Delete my photos” link next to the “Welcome back” message on the identifier, which does it immediately.
Otherwise ask through our contact page and tell us the email or mobile you used, so we can find the right records. We ask you to go through us rather than typing an address into the tool because an address on its own does not prove whose records they are — that would let someone delete yours.
You can also ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or object to us using it.
The mailing list
The identifier only adds you to our mailing list if you tick the box asking for it, which is separate from asking to be told when a part is back in stock. We keep a copy of the exact wording you agreed to. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link.
